Celebrating Our Partnership with Clontarf

For more than five years, we’ve proudly partnered with the Clontarf Foundation to create real-world opportunities for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. Through this partnership, students have gained hands-on experience in hospitality and opened doors to meaningful employment within our industry.

A Record-Breaking Year

In 2025, we sponsored Clontarf’s Ls to Ps program, which achieved its most successful year yet! Over 100 students obtained their driver’s licences, moving from Ls to Ps through driving lessons and support that helped them take this important step toward independence and employment.

About Clontarf

The Clontarf Foundation uses a unique and highly successful approach to support one of the most at-risk groups in contemporary Australian society—young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. By leveraging their passion for sport, Clontarf attracts students to school and keeps them engaged. But it’s not just about sport—it’s about building values, skills, and confidence to help these young men transition into meaningful employment and achieve better life outcomes.

Clontarf partners with schools and communities to create academies embedded within school grounds, and here in Townsville, there are four academies:

  • Thuringowa SHS
  • Kirwan SHS
  • Townsville SHS
  • Heatley Secondary College

Celebrating Success on the Water

To recognise outstanding achievements, we recently invited our local Clontarf academies to join us for a special morning aboard the Morris Group’s Flying Fish. The event celebrated three standout students and one mentor from each academy, acknowledging their dedication and success.

We boarded the Flying Fish at 7:30am and enjoyed a relaxing cruise on the waters off Magnetic Island. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, celebrate, and inspire.

Special recognition goes to Callie Campbell (Casino Bars) and Jess Kum (QD) for their incredible work mentoring young people in the workplace. Alongside them, we are proud to represent The Ville precinct in hosting this memorable event.
